Rebels fall out of playoff contention with loss to Oakers

COVENTRY— As dominant as the Coventry volleyball team has been over the last five seasons, the Oakers never seem to play their best volleyball on Mondays.
That wasn’t the case Monday night when a young South Kingstown team made the trip north for a Division I-South encounter. Led by senior outside hitter Jill Ward and junior setter Sarah McGrath, the Oakers made sure there would be no thought of an upset.

Crusaders drop match to undefeated EWG

EXETER-WEST GREENWICH—The Lady Scarlet Knights’ volleyball team has remained perfect through the first 14 matches of the season and on Monday night Prout came to town trying to end that fantastic streak, but Exeter-West Greenwich wouldn’t budge and held on strong with another 3-0 defeat of the Crusaders; this time at their place.

Avengers serve Moses Brown first shutout

PROVIDENCE— If the East Greenwich Avengers field hockey team wanted revenge against one opponent from their schedule, it would most definitely be defeating Moses Brown on the road to Providence for Columbus Day. The Avengers certainly lived up to that standard by dramatically shutting out the Quakers 2-0.

East Greenwich defeats Pilgrim

WARWICK— It was nothing short of impressive this past Monday holiday for the East Greenwich Avengers girls volleyball team, as they conquered the top spot in the 15th annual “Koch Eye” Volleyball Tournament and also followed that up nearly 24 hours later by taking the trip to Warwick to knock-off the closest team to them in the Division I standings—the Pilgrim Patriots.

Chariho slips by South Kingstown with a 3-2 win

CHARIHO- The Chariho Chargers have been one of the most exciting teams in all of field hockey all season long. Holding down second place in Division II South, the Chargers had a critical game against South Kingstown on Tuesday night at home.
The team came into Tuesday's game with a 6-4-2 record facing a Rebels team at 6-3-2, good enough for third place in Division II South.
With a strong first half, the Chargers got the best of the Rebels on Tuesday night, defeating the South Kingstown, 3-2.

Chariho season ends well at home

CHARIHO- The Chariho Chargers are wrapping up their Girl's Tennis season, and have been one of the best teams in Division III. The team looked to finish their regular season strong this past Tuesday night with a victory against Shea High School at Chariho High School.
The Chargers ended the season on a good note, winning against the Raiders, 6-1, on Tuesday afternoon.

Chargers football comes up short against Mt. Pleasant, 22-21

PROVIDENCE- After starting the season with a big victory on their home field, the Chariho Chargers have struggled lately. With three straight losses, including two shutouts, the Chargers were looking to get out of their early-season slump this past Friday night against Mount Pleasant High School.
The offense came back for Chariho on Friday night, as the team scored three touchdowns and took Mount Pleasant to overtime. However, it couldn't get the victory for the Chargers, as the Kilties edged by Chariho in double-overtime, 22-21.
