For nearly every high school athlete, it’s the one event that always leaves a lasting impression.
It was certainly a special night Tuesday for the eight seniors on the North Kingstown boys basketball team – Jake Mansfield, Spencer Bode, Grant Gillis, Chris Lenox, Evan Gaudreau, Isaiah Butler, Kellen Coleman and Zac Brady. But for Brady in particular, it was a momentous occasion.

NORTH KINGSTOWN—South Kingstown seniors Mary Eden and Mary Matthews combined to take 10 foul shots in the final minute of regulation and overtime in Wednesday night’s girls basketball game at North Kingstown.
And their coach didn’t see a single one of them.
“It was just too stressful,” first-year SK coach Amanda Varone said. “I couldn’t watch. I’m also very superstitious, so when I didn’t watch, we made them.”

NK Boys capture Southern Division title

PROVIDENCE – It’s official; North Kingstown’s boys indoor track team is definitely a contender for the state championship.
With the times they put up during Saturday’s Southern Division Championship at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, there’s certainly reason to put them in the running for state champs.
The Skippers blew the division away with a final tally of 163 points, coming in first over Chariho’s 99 and Rogers with 42.
Not only did North take the division, the Skippers took first in nine out of the 14 events that were scored and earned points in every one.

PROVIDENCE – The East Greenwich boys indoor track team held its own at the Suburban Division Championships Saturday at the Providence Career and Technical Academy.
Coming in second place with 75.5 points, 20 points ahead of West Warwick, the Avengers scored where they would have expected given their daunting Hendricken competitors. The Hawks won by a landslide with 223.5 points.

Chariho is second in Southern Division

January 30, 2014

PROVIDENCE – On paper, it looks like the Southern Division Boys Indoor Track Championships was a slaughter delivered by North Kingstown.
Sometimes looks can be deceiving though, as Chariho put up a mighty fight and more than earned their second place rank. The Chargers may not have clinched first at the Providence Career and Technical Academy on Saturday morning, but they put impressive distance between themselves and the rest of the field.
Chariho tailed North’s 163-point win with 99 points of their own, while Rogers finsihed in a distant third place with 42 points.
