SK American team falls to Warwick

WARWICK - The South Kingstown American 11 and under All-Star Team has enjoyed a nice start to the tournament. The team won their first three games against South Kingstown National, Narragansett, and Wickford, quickly becoming recognized as one of the strongest teams in the winners bracket.
However, the team had a big challenge on Sunday afternoon against Warwick Continental, thought to be one of the best teams in the tournament.

After 40 years, Windus decides to lower his sails

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Norm Windus, coordinator of sailing programs at the University of Rhode Island for more than 40 years, has chosen to retire from his position and to leave it in the capable hands of Chris Liberti, a seven-year student of Windus.
While Windus’ last day was Friday, he took the time to speak with The Narragansett Times from his office on Monday. He began by reflecting on the changes made to the recreational and instructional sailing programs in his tenure as the coordinator.

Coventry defeats South Kingstown in five innings

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - With two teams in the winner’s bracket in District 3 All-Star tournament ages 11-12, South Kingstown National and Coventry were set to have a close, highly contested game.

Narragansett wins second consecutive All-Star game, eliminating East Greenwich

NARRAGANSETT- The Narragansett Junior All-Star team has already accomplished so much in the early games of the District 3 All-Star Tournament. With some of the best baseball players in Narragansett on the team, the players wanted to get off to a quick start in the tournament against some of the other teams in the district.
After picking the worst draw in the draft, the team won its second consecutive game on Sunday, defeating East Greenwich, 6-5, in a game that went down to the wire. The team beat Westerly on Saturday by a score of 10-6.

Ella Prescott having great success with SK Little League

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Ask any South Kingstown baseball player under the age of 13 to name their favorite baseball player, and you’ll likely get answers such as “David Ortiz,” “Dustin Pedroia,” and, should they venture outside the hallowed city limits of Boston and the friendly confines of Fenway, “Derek Jeter.” Each of those names, however, will not be the answer given by South Kingstown Little League’s only girl player in the Majors division. Her answer would seem out of time.
Ask Ella Denny Prescott what her first love is, and she’ll point to her family. Ask her again, only this time ask her to specify a sport, and she’ll say she has a tough time deciding between basketball and baseball. Little wonder. She excels at both. Having just wrapped up the traveling basketball season, her full attention has now turned to baseball. And with good results.

Extra innings result in comeback win for Waves

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - All game long, the Ocean State Waves struggled to get going offensively on Wednesday night. However, with their backs against the wall and the game on the line, the Waves waited until the final at-bats to make an incredible comeback for their fans, showing they should never be counted out until the final swing.
