EAST PROVIDENCEâ€”Competitive high school golfers participated in the 93rd annual Rhode Island Junior Amateur Golf Tournament at Metacomet Country Club in East Providence on Tuesday, with a chance to boost their confidence and try to advance to the next round of play.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN- Itâ€™s almost football season, and every Ram fan in the entire state is looking forward to when the University of Rhode Island first takes the field in the season opener against Marshall on Sept. 6. However, until the game, the team must put in the hard work in the summer to improve as a team and begin a new season of URI football.
This past Sunday, on URIâ€™s practice field, the Rams kicked off a new era in the first training camp under new head coach Jim Fleming.
NARRAGANSETT - On Tuesday night, East Greenwich and Chariho met in the Narragansett Youth Summer Basketball League in the 7th and 8th grade division in a critical late-season game. With the playoffs approaching, it was a game to help either team gain some momentum heading into the post season.
East Greenwich defeated Chariho White, 43-16, cruising to the easy victory at Christofaro Park.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN - In sports, sometimes, itâ€™s not all about wins and losses, or who made the game-winning plays. Itâ€™s the sacrifices and the commitments people make off the field and to other organizations that really make sports something special.
NEWPORTâ€” The playoff race heated up last Friday night in the Pell Bridge series season finale between the Ocean State Waves and the Newport Gulls in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, with the Waves coming away on top, 11-4, ending the Gullsâ€™ six-game winning streak in the process.
CUMBERLAND-Going into the weekend championship series against Barrington in the Jr. League All-Star State Championship Tournament, Chariho had an undefeated record of 6-0 through the district and state tournaments. With just one more victory, Chariho would win the entire state championship, and would mark one of the most incredible playoff runs in the junior league.
However, there was just one team standing in their way of this incredible accomplishment, and it was Barringtonâ€™s junior league team.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN - In the 7th and 8th grade division of the Narragansett Youth Basketballâ€™s Summer League, Chariho Green has enjoyed quite the start to the season. In the teamâ€™s first seven games, they had gone 6-1 and were looking to have a big game against East Greenwich Tuesday night at Christafaro Park in South Kingstown.
Chariho Green came out and made a statement against East Greenwich, winning big, 54-28.
