June 2, 2011

The North Kingstown baseball team moved one step closer to a return trip to McCoy with an 11-6 win over Middletown in Game 1 of their best-of-three series.
East Greenwich took on Cranston West in the second game of the doubleheader at McCarthy Field, but the game wasn't completed because of an 11 p.m. curfew.
The Avengers trailed 10-5 after five innings and the game continued Thursday, where Cranston West held on to win 10-5, then eliminated EG with a 6-0 win immediately after.
An update from Game 2 of the NK-Middletown series will come as soon as the results are available.

D-I Lacrosse Semifinals: NK moves on; EG falls

June 2, 2011

North Kingstown had to wait over an hour to play their Division I semifinal Wednesday night at Rhode Island College, but when the time came to play, the Skippers responded, beating La Salle 14-11 to advance to Saturday's Division I final.
Thanks to the delay, East Greenwich and Barrington's game was postponed to Thursday afternoon. The Avengers came out red-hot and led 7-3 in the first half and 8-6 at halftime, but playing down a man most of the second half proved too much to overcome in a 16-12 loss to Barrington.
The Skippers play Barrington Saturday at Rhode Island College at 3 p.m.
