Skippers topple SK

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - The North Kingstown boys basketball team forced 28 turnovers and used strong runs at the end of the first half and start of the second half to take care of rival South Kingstown 71-46 Wednesday night.
The Rebels had just finished off a 9-2 run to cut an early deficit to 17-15 with 5:15 left in the half after a Chase Almond jumper, but the Skippers caught fire the rest of the half, outscoring SK 14-4 to take a 31-19 lead at the break.

EWG wins in 2 OT thriller

Al Georgio scored on a two-yard plunge in the second overtime, giving the Exeter-West Greenwich a dramatic 44-38 win over North Smithfield in the Division IV semifinals Tuesday night.
Georgio, playing with an injured shoulder, finished the game with 280 yards on 50 carries and scored five touchdowns.
The Knights move on to their fourth straight Division IV Super Bowl. EWG will play Mount Pleasant - which beat Hope 44-6 Tuesday night and beat the Knights earlier this season - Sunday at 3 p.m. at Cranston Stadium.

Rams win season finale over No. 19 UMass

Give the URI football team credit - when they won this season, the did it in style.
The Rams finished off one of the best seasons in the last 20 years, beating rival UMass 37-34 after Steve Probst found Brandon Johnson-Farrell in the end zone with 1:10 left to play.
URI finished the season 5-6, 4-4 in CAA play but did beat three top 25 teams this season.

SK-NK football back at North Kingstown High School

After a couple weeks of confusion, the site for next Thursday's Thanksgiving Day battle between South Kingstown and North Kingstown has been finalized and left some feeling a bit disappointed.
The game - originally scheduled to be played at NK High School, then switched back to URI's Meade Stadium, the game's host the previous five season - will be played on Thanksgiving at North Kingstown High School at 10 a.m. according to NK Athletic Director James Marcello, who told SRIN Sports on Friday morning. North Kingstown was serving as the home team regardless of the site of the game.

‘T’ word forbidden for Rams

Danny West had just finished his first regular-season home game, a 92-67 win over Brown Tuesday night for the Rams, when he made a big mistake.
He uttered a word URI coach Jim Baron despises.
“I think we got a good chance of making it to The Tournament,” West said. “Making it though. Not first, second round – we’ve got somewhere we’re trying to go – but I feel we do though.”
This was a very strange statement for a couple reasons.

Rams win home opener over Brown, 92-67

KINGSTON – The biggest cheer of Tuesday night's home opener wasn’t for Delroy James, Akeem Richmond, Marquis Jones, Will Martell or any of the members of the University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team.
