State labor board tables official decision

CRANSTON—The Rhode Island State Labor Relations Board (SLRB) has delayed the official release of its decision in favor of the North Kingstown firefighters against the town of North Kingstown and its council. The North Kingstown Firefighters Association (NKFFA), Local 1651, have had a complaint pending for the past several months, claiming that the town engaged in ‘unfair labor practices’ in regards to the March 6, 2012, resolution which implemented a three-platoon shift system.

Town moves to dismiss Rolling Greens complaint

NORTH KINGSTOWN—The town is seeking to throw out a Superior Court complaint issued by a group of residents who are opposed to the town’s planned mixed-use development at the intersection of Routes 2 and 102.

Police, FAA investigate helicopter gunfire incident

September 20, 2013

CHARLESTOWN—Several Narrow Lane residents reported a low-flying helicopter with individuals armed with high-powered rifles shooting toward the ground at about 3 p.m. Sunday. According to the police report, the passengers in the helicopter were shooting down at a junked vehicle located in the Shoreline Gravel bank at 60 Narrow Lane.

SK animal noise ordinance hearing to be held Oct. 15

September 19, 2013

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - The public hearing regarding potential amendments to the town's animal noise ordinance will not be held this Monday, Sept. 23.

Ella Whaley, South Kingstown Town Council president, said the hearing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15.

At that time, residents will have the opportunity to come before the council to discuss the keeping of noisy animals, such as roosters, in residential neighborhoods.
