Philbrick to be sentenced this afternoon

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Dean C. Philbrick, 48, of South Kingstown, is scheduled to be sentenced in Washington County Superior Court today at 2 p.m. for the Feb. 15, 2012 death of 23-year-old Erica Knowles.

Philbrick is charged with one count of driving under the influence - death resulting and one count of driving to endanger - death resulting. A Washington County Grand Jury indicted Philbrick on the charges in May 2012.

Knowles, 23, of 95 Wood Lane, South Kingstown, died after the vehicle Philbrick was driving struck a tree on Torrey Road in the early morning hours of Feb. 15.

EAST GREENWICH — When Nicholas Montville pinned the Captain’s badge on the coat of his father, Kenneth Montville, the look of pride and joy on the elder Montville’s face symbolized the tremendous excitement about the future he now has with the East Greenwich Fire Department.
However, he wasn’t the only one possessing that feeling.
The other firefighters were sharing that same joy.

Exeter residents call for removal of council members

June 21, 2013

EXETER—Earlier this month, a group of Exeter residents submitted their signatures to form a petition committee, aiming to canvass the public about removing four of five Exeter Town Council members. The move comes in response to discontent regarding the council’s resolution to place concealed weapons permitting in the hands of the Attorney General’s Office, removing the responsibility from the town clerk.
