Land Trust Days: a time for exploration

Grab a friend and get out and explore.

That’s the message the Rhode Island Land Trust Council is spreading through its Land Trust Days activities this year.

With more than 60 guided walks, events, and visits to scenic farms and green spaces, put on by Rhode Island’s 47 land trusts, there are ample opportunities to enjoy nature.

Rupert Friday, executive director of the Rhode Island Land Trust Council, said this year’s list of events is even better than last year’s.

Chamber reaffirms support of fast ferry service in Quonset

Wayward arsonist files for public defender

SOUTH KINGSTOWN—A North Kingstown man who was sentenced 25 years ago for arson went before a Superior Court judge Friday, August 2, applying for a public defender. Carleton H. Winsor, 74, appeared at Washington County Superior Court, stating he did not have his own lawyer.

Man arrested for scamming NK businesses

August 9, 2013

NORTH KINGSTOWN—North Kingstown Police arrested a Middletown man Monday morning for posing as a representative for a veterans charity in front of a number of businesses on Post Road. George Henry Begin, 61, of 31 West Main Road, Apt. 20, Middletown, was charged with four counts of obtaining money under false pretenses, totaling over $170.
