HOPKINTON - If you have ever been confused as to which door to use when standing outside the front entrance of Hopkinton Town Hall, you are not alone. Town Manager William McGarry admitted that the two front doors often cause confusion amongst visitors, and it would benefit all if town hall had a more prominent entrance way for the public.

WARWICK – Local boy scouts got a taste of fame at a screening of Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” at Showcase Cinema in Warwick Thursday night.
Excited shrieks echoed through the theater as the scouts saw themselves on the big screen.
“It was fun, it was a different experience,” said Noah Morin, 14, a local boy scout. “We had to wear really short shorts and get haircuts.”

NARRAGANSETT—The Town Council approved first readings of two ordinances Monday evening which would increase sewer and water rates for residents. In January, the town hired Pioneer Consulting Group, Inc., to review the town’s Wastewater and Water Funds, and because of internal and external factors, there was a need to revise rates.

PROVIDENCE—This past week, Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee signed into law the ‘Good-Time’ bill, which will prevent criminals convicted of serious offenses from being released earlier because of good behavior. The legislation, drafted last year by Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin and introduced by Representative Teresa Tanzi (D-South Kingstown, Narragansett), along with Senator V. Susan Sosnowski (D-South Kingstown, New Shoreham), is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2012.

NORTH KINGSTOWN – What do you get when you combine members of the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society, graduates of the URI Master Gardeners program, a trio of landscape professionals, Plum Beach Garden Clubbers and a batch of cheerful volunteers?
