Preliminary budget passes; tempers flare at SK Town Hall

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The South Kingstown Town Council approved the preliminary budget for FY 2012-2013 with two amendments – a $7,000 tax appropriation to the Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and a $500 increase to the Washington County Regional Planning Council.
To balance the $89 million budget, the town council also increased the fund for payment-in-lieu-of-taxes from $227,206 to $234,706, an amount equal to the two changes.

Preview today's Narragansett Times

In today's paper, we have the stories of two town council meetings that went array. In Narragansett, Town Council President Glenna Hagopian accuses the town manager of wrong doing. In South Kingstown, Democratic town committee chairman Brendon Fogarty gets into an argument with resident Jonathan Daly Labelle, causing a five minute recess.

We also have the plans from the South County Regatta Committee who will have a 12 meter yacht race off of Narragansett Pier on June 21.
