It's often said that those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it and, for most historians, one of the greatest source of knowledge about past times comes in the form of cemeteries and graveyards.
You can learn a lot from a quick tour of a historic cemetery but, sadly, a new state law has forced towns around Rhode Island to take care of their own cemetery's maintenance issues and it's causing many to become overlooked and ignored.
Case in point: Exeter.
