Repairs scheduled for Factory Pond dam

SOUTH KINGSTOWN–As the reconstruction for the Factory Pond dam in Green Hill gets underway in April, the town will have finished all the planned dam reconstructions in the town.
Director of Public Services Jon Shock said reconstruction for Factory Pond will begin in April. At the March 28 town council meeting, the town awarded a low bid of $172,000 to East Coast Construction in Portsmouth to undertake the dam repairs. The town will repair the Factory Pond dam to update it to current dam standards and to fix damage incurred from the March 2010 storm.

NORTH KINGSTOWN – In last week’s Standard-Times, it was reported that two bridges in town had been identi-fied as “structurally deficient” by the Transportation for America.
Though the classifications haven’t changed, more information has been released as why the bridges were ranked that way.
The two that were classified were the bridge on Tower Hill Road that crosses Route 138 and the historic C.L. Hus-sey Bridge on Boston Neck Road which crosses Wickford Cove.
