The Westerly Area Youth Lacrosse league is offering a FREE event for area parents and students, grades 1 through 8 today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Westerly Middle School.
Join WAYL tonight to hear Dave Cornell and Heather McClelland, head mens' and womens' coaches from Conn College, give interested players the "scoop" on the sport. Vendors will also be available to display and sell equipment. WAYL has received a grant from US Lacrosse for helmets and eye wear for 20 boys. The equipment will be loaned for the season on a first-come, first-served basis.
With what it seems to be a snow storm every Tuesday and Wednesday this winter, the town is plowing through its snow removal budget as it also tries to clear storm drains.
Our local students may not have been crowned victors, but they did walk away with medals from the 10th annual LEGO League Rhode Island Championship Event.
Students from both Coventry and West Warwick Schools participated in the event, which was hosted by Roger Williams University earlier this month.
The East Greenwich Board of Fire Commissioners and local firefighters have agreed on a new three-year contract with an 18-month pay freeze and a 20 percent co-pay.
East Greenwich Firefighters Association Local 3328, affiliated with the International Association of Firefighters, ratified the new pact by majority vote three weeks ago, said Lt. Bill Perry, union president.
The commissioners then approved the contract at their meeting last Thursday.
The North Kingstown Home Depot will be holding their second annual Free Kidâ€™s Activities Camp during February school vacation, Feb. 21 to 25, beginning at 10 a.m.
Thereâ€™ll be story time daily followed by hands-on activities. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Parents must be present with children at all time and is offered to children ages five and up.

Feb. 21- Kidâ€™s Workshop. Build a project using tools with the Home Depot team.
Feb. 22- Painting Pots. Your child can design a clay pot for you to enjoy for years.
