HOPKINTON -- The Town Council discussed the possibility of a sidewalk snow removal ordinance for the town at its Feb. 7 meeting, much like the one in Westerly and other municipalities throughout the state.
Is North Kingstown ready for a medical marijuana facility? Well, that depends on whom you ask.
At a special meeting Monday, members of the public and local elected officials got to express their support and/or concerns with two proposed "compassion centers" in North Kingstown and, judging from the meeting itself, they're split on whether the centers will do more harm than good.
NARRAGANSETT–The Town Council began their meeting with a moment of silence for George Lenihan, Sr., a local restaurateur and businessman who died on Feb. 4.
Next, Rep. Teresa Tanzi spoke about her support for an amendment to a 2001 law regarding Galilee. The 2001 law extends a forty year lease on the property. What Tanzi's bill does is extend the lease exclusively for fishing related purposes to help preserve it as a working waterfront. This act would allow property for commercial fishing industries to be rented for up to 40 years by the state. Tanzi also described her desire to look at loopholes and deductions in the tax code that were either outdated our possibly ineffective.
Their resumes include lines like U.S. Attorney, Nobel Peace Prize winner and longtime school nurse.
Their careers have taken them to places like Florida and the Middle East, or no farther than the state of Rhode Island.
The East Greenwich High School Wall of Honor will grow by seven honorees when this year’s induction ceremony is held April 14 at 6 p.m. at the high school.
