Redistricting process underway in South County

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – As Rhode Island undergoes reapportioning and redistricting its voting districts once more to reflect the results of the new 2010 Census, state legislators are anxiously waiting to see what they may lose or gain.

As the Special Commission on Reapportionment met last Thursday at the South Kingstown High School during a preliminary public hearing on redistricting, local representatives and senators discovered there will be some changes in Washington County.

Politics as Usual: In-state tuition is a sideshow to the real issue (OPINION)

This being Columbus Day weekend, it seems appropriate to ponder the vexing question of immigration.
I must be one of the few people in Rhode Island who is ambivalent about the issue of allowing illegal alien high school graduates pay in-state tuition at URI and the state colleges.
Everyone else seems to be on one side or the other – loudly, passionately, dedicatedly, even angrily on one side or the other.
