WAKEFIELD – The happy ending sundaes are no longer that happy as Friendly's Ice Cream filed for bankruptcy Wednesday and joined a growing list of retail corporations closing due to the sluggish economy. Sixty-three low performing restaurants will close, including the Wakefield branch on Kingstown Road.

NARRAGANSETT—College parties and student rental-related incidents have become a constant occurrences among the neighborhoods of Narragansett. The town and Narragansett Police Department have worked together over the past month to implement the existing and recently passed ordinances as the 2011-2012 school year advances.
“Results have been markedly better than last year,” said NPD Chief Hoxsie. “The number of stickers issued have been down.”

NORTH KINGSTOWN – The music is pulsating, the sound of iron clangs like an army of bots playing tackle football and, everywhere, men are sweating and flexing.
If it were anywhere else, this would clearly qualify as a man cave.
But it’s the West Bay Family YMCA and this roomful of guys can be forgiven for really, really enjoying themselves: the room was gutted and repainted and all its equipment is new, as are the treadmills and other apparatus in the cardio center.
