Shriners come to aid Isabella

Did you know that arthritis doesn’t affect only seniors and older adults?

Rheumatois arthritis can actually be just as, if not more crippling for children than it is for adults and seniors.

Isabella Calise, a seven year old girl, who lives with her family in Coventry, suffers from the juvenile form known as Juvenile Rheumatois Arthritis. She was diagnosed in December of 2009, but only after a long and uncomfortable journey.

More candidates more questions. Today we will continue our coverage of the Candidates running for state offices.
There are six candidates running for representative seats in three different districts. District 27, 29 and 40. We asked each of them the same six questions:

School Committee's still a table for seven

The School Committee membership will change after the Nov. 2 election, but the number of seats on the dais won't.
By a 5-2 vote Tuesday night, the committee voted not to pursue a town charter change that would reduce the number of members to five, a proposal committee member Paul Martin offered as a means of saving money.
Martin estimated that the reduction could save the district $6,400 in salary and health care benefits or buyback money for members who don't accept the health care package.

NORTH KINGSTOWN–Once a college professor in Narragansett, Sr. Una O’Connor, C.P. has used the teaching skills she learned in Rhode Island to develop the Catholic College of Mandeville, a teaching school in Jamaica.

Station House opens this weekend for dinner

KINGSTON – The Station House Restaurant on Kingstown Road is now open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights from 4 to 8 p.m. starting tonight, Oct. 22. Mike Labonte, Jr., the owner and sole cook, said he hopes providing the dinner option in addition to breakfast and lunch will create more business. The restaurant will also allow customers to bring their own alcohol. For more information, pick up the Narragansett Times.

Richmond council creating senior activities board

RICHMOND – The Town Council will likely soon establish a temporary committee to start activities for area seniors and decide how to move forward.
