Planning discusses affordable housing

NORTH KINGSTOWN – A public hearing was continued from July to Tuesday’s Planning Commission meeting for the Master Plan of a proposed two-lot major subdivision for low and moderate income housing on Boston Neck Road and Elm Drive.

NORTH KINGSTOWN– State Representative Doreen Costa (Rep. D-32), who will face off against Democrat Stephen Campo in the general election in November, is back in the district knocking on doors after her return from the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Tampa last week.

Exeter's celebrated architect Bill Warner dies

EXETER – While William D. “Bill” Warner, the visionary architect whose designs included reviving Providence’s riverfront – and earned him 50 national and regional awards – is mourned throughout the state and beyond, Exeter residents remember him as a man committed to his community.
Warner died Aug. 27 at age 83 after a six-month illness.

EXETER – The town’s book-loving residents recall with fondness the one-room Manton Library, located in a corner of town hall with volumes piled in windowsills and everywhere else there was an inch of space.
When patrons checked out a book, the librarian, Kathryn Rhodes, would say, “You really don’t need to return it” because, well, she was inundated with literature. As the popular tee-shirt declares: So many books. So little time.
