Rebels place fourth at Class A meet at Ponaganset Saturday

PONGAGANSET- The Cross Country season is wrapping up for both girls and boys this season. With the Class A Championship this past weekend, each team was looking for a strong finish to their fall season.
LaSalle Academy placed first for both Boy's and Girl's this past Saturday at the Class A Championship at Ponaganset.
For the girls, LaSalle's Eliza Rego placed first with a time of 18:13. The Rams took three of the top five spots this past Saturday at Ponaganset.

Rebels field hockey ready for playoff push

BURRILLVILLE — With one game left on the regular season schedule, the South Kingstown field hockey team were poised to continue their four-game shutout streak on the road against Burrillville, but the Broncos (7-7-1) have been hanging on by a string, desperate for a win to enter the postseason with a positive record as the sixth seed.

Landlords speak out on student rental issues

NARRAGANSETT – The recently formed Ad Hoc Committee on URI Student Rental Problems met for their third meeting on Monday evening to host an open forum style event with local landlords and property managers to further investigate solutions to the town-wide student rental issues.
Town manager Pam Nolan explained the purpose of the meeting and what the committee hoped to accomplish.

Baccari acquitted on all charges

NARRAGANSETT – Richard P. Baccari, the Narragansett resident who was indicted in 2013 for the conspiracy and bribery of three North Providence councilmen, was acquitted on Oct. 23 in U.S. District Court of all charges.

Car wash wars in SK

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Following a series of interwoven events, there are now two car washes doing business out of the Fred W. Smith building, owned by William Jeffries, in Wakefield.
One of the car washes, South County Hand Car Wash, has been in business for nearly three years. The new car wash, which is operating without a registered business name, sprang up on Friday and is run by South County Hand Car Wash’s former manager, Miguel Saman.
The two car washes are now competing for customers, who enter through a shared driveway.

Board of Elections complaint filed on Filippi

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Just a week before the elections, Rep. Donna Walsh (D - Dist. 36, Block Island, Charlestown, South Kingstown, Westerly) has filed formal complaints with the Rhode Island Board of Elections against her opponent, Blake Filippi, claiming that he does not live in the district.
Walsh claims that although his candidate declaration shows his address to be 912 Champlin Road, New Shoreham, he actually lives at 1092 Great Road, Lincoln.
