JOHNSTON—No one ever wants to lose.
If you have to though, you’d like to think it would be the way South Kingstown Post 39 fell in Monday’s best-of-three series finale with Hurd Auto Mall-Post 88 in the second round of the American Legion Baseball playoffs at Johnston War Memorial Park.
Post 39 erased a three-run deficit in the top of the ninth but ultimately could not complete the improbable comeback as SK lost 6-5 on a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning.

NARRAGANSETT – With the rains that plagued the start of the walkers race an hour before having subsided, the perfect backdrop had been set for the 42nd running of the Narragansett Lions Club’s Blessing of the Fleet Road Race Friday evening.
The race lived up to the perfect conditions left by the earlier weather as Sam Alexander of Waterford, Conn. commanded the race nearly the entire way, edging out Bishop Hendricken graduate Brian Doyle for the win, completing the 10-mile course in a time of 51:12.
NARRAGANSETT - Members from the community have planned an evening of peace and remembrance for Allison Taylor, on Saturday, Aug. 3, as a way to surround her family with love, fellowship and support.
The community gospel choir, Prism of Praise, will be performing music ministry during the love offering at Saint Peter’s by the Sea. This gospel choir is a multiracial, ethnically diverse Christian choir that was founded originally in 1991.
