Narragansett Town Beach closed for swimming

LeBlanc pleads his case for Whalerock

CHARLESTOWN – The Charlestown Zoning Board held a second public hearing last Wednesday, another in what is expected to be a series of several, as the zoning board determines whether to allow Whalerock Renewable Energy LLC to erect two wind turbines in the town.

Top two Chariho seniors teamed up for success

WOOD RIVER JUNCTION — In the Class of 2013, not only are Chariho seniors Hannah Baker and Madeline Neff good friends, they have also helped each other achieve the highest academic rankings: Baker is valedictorian and Neff is salutatorian. And, because they’re used to teaming up on class projects and homework, the two have decided to write one speech together and will deliver it side by side at the podium on graduation day.
“We’re mostly going to swap paragraphs. I think I’m saying the first two and she’s saying the next two,” said Baker.

166 pick up diplomas Sunday

PROVIDENCE — Donned in the traditional white and maroon caps and gowns, the 166 members of the East Greenwich High School Graduating Class of 2013 were lauded by school faculty, administration, friends and family inside the historic Veterans Memorial Auditorium Sunday afternoon for their achievements both academic and extracurricular throughout their four-year journeys at the campus located at 300 Avenger Ave.

Teachers’ union secretary arrested at Harborside

Rhode Island’s largest teacher’s union took a hit on Tuesday when it confirmed its secretary, 58-year-old Louis Rainone of Cranston, had resigned following his arrest at a union meeting at a waterfront East Greenwich restaurant and bar last Friday.

NK Class of 2013 looks to future, grateful for opportunities given

NORTH KINGSTOWN—With excited minds and a single red rose in hand, students of the North Kingstown High School Class of 2013 processed into the Ryan Center in order to cap off their four years of hard work, a diploma waiting at the end. Family members crowded into their seats this past Friday evening as students fixed tassels and talked about what they’ll miss, where they’d be going to college.
