Daly wants further talks about consolidation; Isaacs says voters have spoken
EAST GREENWICH â The East Greenwich Fire District believes there should be further discussion regarding the possible merger with the Town of East Greenwich.
The Town Council, on the other hand, is taking the stance that the voters from the community have spoken from the Nov. 6 general election.

SHAB decision and safety discussed in Hopkinton
HOPKINTONâThe town council applauded their legal team Monday night for the recent ruling in Hopkintonâs favor by the State Housing Appeals Board concerning the Brushy Brook development.
The ruling upholds the planning boardâs 2010 decision to limit the number of homes built and to ask for some reconfiguring of the layout of the plan.

Multiple felony charges for Michael Gaccione, 36, and Rose Roberts, 37, of Westerly
HOPKINTON â Hopkinton Police arrested a Westerly couple in connection with two recent break-ins on Thursday.
Police arrested Michael Gaccione, 36, and Rose Roberts, 37, both of 37 Canal St., Westerly, in connection with two attempted break-ins into Hopkinton homes.

NARRAGANSETT â The town council met with the Land Conservancy Trust this past Monday to further discuss the issues surrounding the Eddy/Middlebridge property. Purchased in August 2012 by the town for $1.4 million, progress in creating a concrete direction for the properties at 94 and 95 Middlebridge Road has been slow going, namely because of the impact of Hurricane Sandy in October and the election of a new council in November.

NARRAGANSETT - At a special meeting of the Narragansett Town Council on Wednesday evening, the council addressed the contract negotiated and submitted by attorneys for the town and its candidate for interim manager, Richard Kerbel of North Kingstown. In a meeting that lasted less than an hour, the council approved entry into the contract in a 3-2 vote that mirrored that of Monday eveningâs contentious discussion on the same matter.

PROVIDENCE â In a strongly worded letter sent to Rhode Islandâs school superintendents on Friday, Education Commissioner Deborah Gist warned that the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) would take severe action against any district using seniority, job fairs or âbumpingâ to assign, keep or lay off teachers.

Richard Kerbel named interim Narragansett Town Manager
NARRAGANSETT - Monday eveningâs meeting of the Narragansett Town Council was reminiscent of a political filibuster as residents lined up at the podium to voice opinion and concerns regarding the townâs inability to find a permanent candidate for the position of town manager. On the agenda and centermost to contention in the standing room only council chambers was a motion to appoint Richard Kerbel as interim manager. In a hotly debated three to two decision, the town council voted to approve Kerbel for the position.
