Town, fire union still argue safety of switch

NORTH KINGSTOWN– Local firefighters continue to argue that firehouse conditions across the district are deteriorating because of the 56-hour shift change implemented by the Town of North Kingstown back in March.
“The 56-hour work week doesn’t work,” says North Kingstown Firefighters Association President, Raymond Furtado. “The conditions that the firefighters are facing under this plan are causing severe emotional and physical ramifications.”

ACLU responds to Bergner complaint

SOUTH KINGSTOWN  - The Rhode Island chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union requested the South Kingstown Town Council change recently implemented policies regarding meeting decorum. The ACLU says the policies are unconstitutional violations of free speech.

A shift in Administration at Chariho

WOOD RIVER JUNCTION - When Robert Mitchell decided to leave his post as principal of Chariho High School this past spring, the Chariho School Committee acted quickly to appoint Elizabeth Sinwell, the former CHS Assistant Principal, to fill his roll. That decision was made without the use of a search committee.
