If Chariho is going to win its second consecutive boys outdoor track title Sunday then it is going to have to do it without senior All-State star Mike Marsella.
“Mike is not entered in the meet today,” said Chariho coach Bill Haberek said prior to Sunday's RIIL Boys and Girls State Championship Meet at Brown University. “… He basically hasn’t been running since the 19th [of May].”
At the Class A Championships on May 19 Marsella competed in the 3,000 and was noticeably not himself. He finished in seventh place.

EXETER – As the owner of two large dogs including an adopted Rottweiler-mix, Stephen P. “Steve” Mattscheck has a soft spot for animals. He’s also connected to the Exeter Animal Shelter, adjacent to the Department of Public Works (DPW), which he now directs.
“I helped build the facility,” he says of the shelter. “Public Works is already responsible for all the public buildings and grounds and we’ve worked there – replacing windows and doors, making repairs; it was all done in-house.”
