NK gearing up for 12th-annual Spirit Day

NORTH KINGSTOWN - Saturday will mark the 12th anniversary of Spirit Day, a fun filled day celebrating the North Kingstown community.
All festivities will be held at North Kingstown High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spirit Day is a mix of community health-related, social, civic and business entities and entertainment. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the North Kingstown Food Pantry.

On time, under budget

CHARLESTOWN - The maintenance dredging project that turned the shores of Ninigret Pond near the mouth of the Charlestown Breachway into a bustling hub of giant tubes and loud machinery for a few late winter weeks is finished. Not only was the project completed within this season’s prime dredging window, it was completed under budget.

Preview today's Narragansett Times

In today's paper, we have the story on the meeting with SK school officials and Broad Rock parents and how many questions went unanswered concerning the gas-like odor.

We also have inside stories on the politics of South Kingstown and what the town council plans to do to restore decorum.

Last week, the Governor proposed a 14 piece legislation to reform pensions for cities and towns. The plan will have little impact on Narragansett, which is part of the non-MERS plan.

Players happy to have Hurley

KINGSTON – Lost in the shuffle of the firing of Jim Baron and courting and eventual hiring of Dan Hurley was how returning members of the University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team would react.
Wednesday, they showed how.
Every member eligible to return next season was in attendance Wednesday, as they walked into Keaney Gymnasium as a team and walked out hopeful of things to come.
