EAST GREENWICH — These are busy days for local film producer Chad A. Verdi, who is juggling the demands of three films in various stages of development, marketing and exhibition.
First, there is “Loosies,” a pickpocketing tale in current release in both theaters and at home with On Demand, which may finally receive a Rhode Island theater run.
Second, preparations are under way for an October theatrical release of “Infected,” a horror film featuring some of the cast and crew involved with “Inkubus,” released last October, Verdi’s first production with Main Street-based Woodhaven Films.

Yes, the Superdome that had been torn up is gleaming again, conventions and celebrations have returned, and the good times are rolling again in New Orleans 6½ years after Hurricane Katrina nearly destroyed the city.
But there's a lot more to the story, as Mike McDevitt discovered over the holidays.

EXETER – The long-dormant property owned by Kevin Casey, of Connecticut, operating as Exeter Real Estate – once envisioned as a 99-unit development of senior housing called Cobblestone – is being reimagined.
At a recent planning board work session, Casey announced he's “reassessing his plans,” says Town Planner David W. Schweid. “The master plan [for the original Cobblestone] was approved in April 2008” but has never gone forward, leaving the property to become overgrown and weed-choked.
The economy has forced Casey's hand.
