NORTH KINGSTOWN—The North Kingstown Town Council was unanimous in its consideration of whether to allow the placement of wind turbines in North Kingstown.
Although a few council members pledged to stay open to the idea, a general consensus was reached by the council to hold a public hearing on August 15th on whether to repeal its wind ordinance altogether.
NARRAGANSETT—As you lie on the beach, listening to the waves crash upon the waves and feeling the warm sun beat upon your face, your eyes are closed. You open them, and the scene before is of a brown tint. A giant hotel stands where the Post Office once stood. There are no more cars or motorcycles, but carriages. The road along the sea wall is not asphalt, but dirt. This is your first vacation in Narragansett at the turn of the 20th century.
RICHMOND - For the third consecutive year, the Meadowbrook Waldorf School will present Circus Smirkus, a unique show that features youth performers, at the Washington County Fairgrounds, July 25 and 26. There will be two shows each day, at 1 and 6 p.m.

Some people say you can’t always believe what you see on television.
In one case involving a local golfer, those people would be right.
On July 14, WPRI Channel 12 and its affiliate, WNAC Fox 64, showed highlights of North Kingstown resident and former Skippers’ golf star Samantha Morrell and her opponent Ali Prazak putting on the 18th hole at Laurel Lane Golf Club in West Kingston in the finals of the Ocean State Women’s Golf Association championship match in its nightly sportscast.
Problem was, what viewers saw never happened.

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Frank Knight, 83, a former North Kingstown town councilman, interim town manager, Chamber of Commerce president and longtime activist with the Republican
Town Committee, died July 14 at South County Hospital.
MATUNUCK – After part of the Willow Dell Beach Club was set on fire in an arson incident on Friday, July 8, the beach club was also vandalized a week later this past Saturday.
HOPKINTON - A celebratory groundbreaking was held at the Rockville Mill on Monday, July 18, to acknowledge a project that will turn the abandoned space into 14 affordable rental homes. U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, and Gov. Lincoln Chafee were all on hand to address the gathered crowd and grab a shovel.

NORTH KINGSTOWN – The medals adorning Marine Corporal Tyler Miller’s dress uniform glint in the noonday sun. They represent the survival of Parris Island’s notorious boot camp and two tours in Afghanistan.
The shiny gold discs displayed across the left breast are for combat action, overseas service medal with bronze star, the Navy-Marine achievement medal, the National Defense Medal for serving in wartime, an Afghanistan campaign medal with two deployment ribbons, the Global War on Terrorism medal and a NATO medal for serving and fighting while attached to the international security force.
NARRAGANSETT—The school committee addressed on Wednesday evening a recent Superior Court action made by the Narragansett School System, along with five other state school districts, in objecting the payment of tuition fees to the Rhode Island School of the Deaf.
HOPKINTON–Tragedy struck the area on Saturday, July 16, when a 10-year-old boy scout died at Yawgoog Scout Reservation in Rockville.
Patrick Hannon, of Huntington, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue workers who arrived at the camp at approximately 7 a.m., according to William McGarry, acting police chief.
