EXETER âVirginia Barber Laiho, 84, has fond memories of attending the one-room Woody Hill School off Route 165 in the western part of town.
âIt was very interesting,â she says, âbecause we used to live across the street from the school. I would go over early to get the fire started in the cast-iron stove. The kids would walk or ride in the milk cart and the teachers lived with different families. One lived with us for two years; she had a room and ate with us.â
NARRAGANSETTâThe town of Narragansett honored a group of local firefighters Tuesday evening for their exceptional response and work in saving a stranded kayaker.
HOPKINTONâCrossing the Wood River at the Hopkinton/Richmond town line just became a whole lot easier. The Woodville Road Bridge has been reopened, Rep. Brian Patrick Kennedy (Dist. 38 â Hopkinton) announced in conjunction with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) last week.
