NARRAGANSETTâ€”Oftentimes when a personâ€™s life has presented many challenges and obstacles along the way, there may be no greater achievement than to be recognized for oneâ€™s work when evening begins to fall. Maury Klein, a professor emeritus at the University of Rhode Island and author of 16 books, will garnish such acknowledgment as a 2011 inductee to the Rhode Island Hall of Fame.
NARRAGANSETT â€“ Rachel Dâ€™Ambrosio grew up on the water, water skiing, knee boarding and swimming. During those summer days, Dâ€™Ambrosio applied a 30 SPF sunscreen because she was fair skinned. She was always told that the sun could cause skin cancer because of harmful ultraviolet rays, but she never really understood what that meant until she turned 11.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN â€“ The new La Strada CafÃ© and Pizzeria in Matunuck will now be able to sell liquor until 10:30 p.m. after the town council approved expanding the number of limited liquor licenses in the town at Mondayâ€™s meeting. Philâ€™s Restaurant on Main Street also received approval for an expansion of its current liquor license to include second floor dining.
