Hopkinton Town Council OKs audit firm bid

HOPKINTON -- The Town Council voted unanimously at the May 2 meeting to maintain the services of Bacon & Company LLC to perform the Hopkinton's financial audits for the next three years.

Town Manager William McGarry said he received a report on the matter from the town treasurer, who received quotes from two accounting firms. And the low bid for all three years, he said, was from Bacon & Company.

Senate passes two resolutions helping RI fishing industry

The Rhode Island fishing industry is getting some support after the state senate passed two resolutions asking for better industry representation federally and for more funding to support the domestic seafood market.

The first resolution urges state federal representatives to secure Rhode Island voting representation on the Mid-Atlantic Council. Senator Susan V. Sosnowski of South Kingstown introduced the resolution and the senate passed it at Wednesday night’s meeting. The resolution supports federal Senator Jack Reed in his efforts to bring more representation to the Rhode Island fishing industry.

After over 250 foster kids, Fullmers the perfect blend

Over the course nearly two decades, an of astounding 250-plus foster children have received temporary refuge in the home of Ann and Ralph Fullmer. Eight of them stayed and were adopted, joining the Fullmers’ biological sons Ralph Jr. and Darrell.
Yet Ann, 62, insists, “We’re nothing special. We’re just us. They’re my kids.”
This is a great understatement.
She is the epitome of what Mother’s Day celebrates: dedication, constancy and unfailing love. Her need to reach out to children when they needed her most is what sets her apart.
