WOOD RIVER JCT. -- The Chariho Regional School Committee voted unanimously at the April 26 meeting to approve an agreement to retain Richmond police officer Anthony Zoglio as the school resource officer.
The vote extends the contract between the district and town police department for the 2011-12 school year. And it came after a long discussion heralding Zoglio for his efforts since he came onboard as the school resource officer, or SRO, last fall.
NARRAGANSETT—The country’s capability in designing computer programs and governmental protocols for preventing cyber attacks rests largely on the shoulders of today’s students. Using computers and the internet is now an integral part of the primary school’s syllabus, and the genesis of future research will come from the high school and university levels. Luca Spinazzola, a senior at Narragansett High School, is a beneficiary.
NORTH KINGSTOWN—North Kingstown Town Manager Michael Embury opened Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting with a light-hearted joke.
Producing his 2009 and 2010 W-2 forms in response to a request last week by School Committee member Larry Ceresi, Embury stated that his wages went down over $4,000 from year to year, prompting council president Elizabeth Dolan to smile and ask if Embury also had his “birth certificate with him”.
It was one of the few moments of light-hearted fun on an evening of otherwise painful decisions.
