WEST WARWICK — The West Warwick baseball team felt like it was in Division I again Friday afternoon.
After spending four years in Division I – most of them miserable – the Wizards went down to Division II hoping to find a more level playing field. That has been the case for most of the season but Friday the Wizards ran into Prout starting pitcher Spencer Stall and rest of the defending II-South champion Crusaders.

Chariho seeks advice from Commissioner Gist

WOOD RIVER JCT. -- The Chariho Regional School Committee unanimously approved authorizing Ricci to request a legal advisory from state Department of Education Commissioner Deborah Gist regarding funding for the Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center, commonly known as MET School.

Two SK intersections ranked worst in RI

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – South Kingstown has two of the top 25 worst intersections in the state according to a state Department of Transportation report to federal officials.

The intersection of South County Commons Way with Tower Hill Road on Route 1 was ranked as the sixth worst intersection for accidents. The intersection of Tower Hill Road with Mooresfield Road on Route 138 was listed as 23rd.

Death of bin Laden fails to bring closure

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Richard and Donna August were in Washington, D.C. when news of the death of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden was blazoned on TV news.
“The crawl [printed text that flows across the bottom of the screen] said they got him,” recalled August who, with his wife, Donna, had traveled to the capital for their granddaughter’s First Communion.
