PROVIDENCE, R.I. – An East Greenwich collegiate legend has made his mark and established his place, and Rhode Island PBS has preserved it as living history.
The film, “Jack Yena’s Legacy: Finding a Sense of Place,” is the third of a trilogy of documentaries about the unique history of Johnson & Wales University by filmmaker Marian Gagnon. Yena resides in E.G.
The complete film series has been years in the making.
From Germany to Tennessee to Vietnam to New Jersey to East Greenwich to Concord, Mass., to Newport, to 100 ports in between, the amazing journey of Udo Schroff will be shared statewide when he is honored later this year at the 17th annual Leukemia Cup Regatta.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is closing a short segment of Route 1 North in South Kingstown tomorrow, Wednesday, March 2, 2011. The closure is expected to last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow for repair of damaged pavement.

North Kingstown RI – Beacon Hospice, Inc. of North Kingstown RI recently announced the start of a new five-week Volunteer Training and Orientation Program. Orientation begins on March 15, 2011 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and will be followed by volunteer training sessions on March 22nd, 29th, April 5th and 12th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. All sessions will be held at the Beacon Hospice North Kingstown Office located at Meadows Professional Office Park, Suite C104 1130 Ten Rod Road North Kingstown, RI 02852.
