Billy Baron - son of URI men's basketball coach Jim - made his first statements to the media since announcing he was transferring from Virginia to URI.
Here are a few of his comments.
(On the decision)
-Itâs good to be back home. I missed my family, I missed being home. Just being able to play for my father, you know. Virginia was great, a lot of great opportunities coming out of there, great people there, great coaching staff. Just the fact of coming home, you only have one of them.

WOOD RIVER JUNCTION â For most basketball teams, the recent snowfall of the region was not welcomed as it put a halt to recent games.
But for the West Warwick Wizards, it may have been a blessing in disguise.
After losing three straight games last week, the Wizardsâ game Friday against Westerly was cancelled which afforded the team much needed practice time and a chance to regroup and gain its confidence.
Chariho was the unfortunate victim of a rejuvenate Wizardsâ squad as they dismantled the Chargers 77-44.
PROVIDENCE -- Rep. Donna Walsh (Democrat, District 36) has introduced H-5122, which will close a loophole used by bad drivers with multiple offenses to evade harsher penalties.
Walshâs bill is a simple measure that would prohibit any driver who has received a third summons in a 12-month-period from mailing in payment. Instead, that driver would have to appear in person before a judge in municipal court or traffic tribunal.
WAKEFIELDâFor the third consecutive year, South County Hospital is proud to be the co-sponsor of the annual Gloria Gemma âPink Outâ men's basketball game tonight at the URI Ryan Center.
NORTH KINGSTOWN â An investigation that began back in September ended last week with Rhode Island State Police and the United States Drug Department of Enforcement Administration (DEA) - Rhode Island Task Force officials, arresting three out of state males, seizing 66 kilograms of cocaine and $1,245,100 in cash during a planned raid at a storage facility on 376 Dry Bridge Road, Unit A-3, North Kingstown. State Police are calling the raid one of the biggest in state history, both in the amount of cash and the amount of drugs seized.
