Well, here we are. It's January and, yet again, we've got a nice, fresh batch of snow covering North Kingstown and Exeter.
Are you getting tired of the white stuff? If so, you're certainly not alone.
Residents from across the area have tried their hardest to bear the brunt of this stubborn winter ever since a snowstorm Christmas weekend coated Rhode Island with a foot of snow and, really, it hasn't let up.
But that's not slowing down the Standard Times.

Wrestling season reaching crescendo

WARWICK — The wrestling state championships begin in less than a month at the Providence Career and Technical Academy and plenty of wrestlers, through their performances at in-state and out-of-state tournaments, have started to make their case as title favorite.
And with only a few big tournaments left this season (Capital City Classic in Concord, N.H. and the Methuen (Mass.) Invitational) Rhode Island wrestlers have represented themselves well on the New England stage.

WEB SPECIAL: Despite weather, ice stil not safe to skate on

The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) advises that, despite the cold temperatures of the past week, there is no safe ice at monitored state parks at this time. Ice must have a uniform thickness of at least six inches before it is considered safe by DEM. It generally takes at least five to seven consecutive days of temperatures in the low twenties or below before ice may become safe.

Stars align for students at Matunuck School

MATUNUCK–“Oohs” and “aahs” rang out from the giant bubble sitting in the middle of the gymnasium at Matunuck Elementary School. The planetarium was back for its annual visit.
