Technology vastly improving at SK Schools

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The Technology Director for South Kingstown Schools wants to make South Kingstown a world class school district by bringing in innovative technology to help students learn and teachers educate.
At Tuesday night’s school committee work session, technology director Douglas Snow said the school district has come far in its technological capacity and can go even further.

Fire destroys historic mill in Ashaway

ASHAWAY–Flames lit up the night as a historic mill in Ashaway caught fire late Sunday, Oct. 30, and continued to burn into the early hours of Monday morning.

Nor'easter sinks barge near Pell Bridge

November 2, 2011

NEWPORT— A barge responsible for repairs to the Pell Bridge sank between Saturday evening and Sunday at noon during the past weekend’s nor’ easter. The barge, hired by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA), was re-painting and conducting repairs to the steel structure of the bridge.

The United States Coast Guard, Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM), Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), Clean Harbors, Newport Harbormaster’s Office and the Newport Navy Base were all notified of the incident.
