Chariho proposes $54.4 million budget

WOOD RIVER JCT. – The Chariho Regional School District superintendent's proposed budget of $54.37 million for fiscal year 2011-12 represents a 3.3 percent increase over the current year's voter-approved budget of $52.62 million.

Quest Montessori School facing obstactles in Narragansett

NARRAGANSETT—Paul Raymond, the head of Quest Montessori School and a prospective property-owner in the town said in an interview that he is up against “significant obstacles” in the state’s current system of regulatory controls.  Recently, his proposal to re-zone a portion of Boston Neck Road as “commercial” has stalled and his school’s future in the town is threatened.  After months of architectural designs, engineering plans, wetland protection zones, and traffic reports were approved by the planning board, the council has twice delayed re-zoning the property.

Oakers pin Thunderbolts

CRANSTON — The easy portion of the Coventry High wrestling team’s schedule is about to end and the iron of Rhode Island wrestling is about to test just how much the Oakers have improved this season.
Coventry, which has spent the first half of the season wrestling Division I-South teams, wrestled its only match of the week Friday at Cranston East and rolled to a comfortable win over the rebuilding Thunderbolts.

Wizards win shootout

The West Warwick Wizards now stand all alone atop the Division II standings.
Junior guard Max Motroni poured in a game high 33 points, to go along with nine assists and seven rebounds to lead his team to a 95-86 victory over the North Providence Cougars.
Teammates John Morrison chipped in 25 points and senior forward Chuck Dalton came through with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
