NARRAGANSETT–On Dec. 13 the Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) subcommittee met in a final hearing about the future of a privately owned piece of land whose construction was halted after a preserved 12th century native village was discovered on the property.
As development continued, evidence and artifacts of early native life were uncovered. Pottery, a burial ground, and an unplowed and preserved Indian village have subsequently been documented but researchers say more needs to be done.
