HOPKINTON -- The newly elected members of the Town Council will be sworn-in at Town Hall tonight as part of a special meeting.
KINGSTONâThis Thanksgiving as commuters come home for the holidays at the Kingston Train Station, they may be greeted by the Friends of the Kingston Station, a volunteer group that helps passengers find their way.
For the past nine years, the Friends of the Kingston Station, a 36 year old volunteer group has been offering hospitality services on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday of Thanksgiving Day week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The group works with the national railroad safety group, Operation Life Saver with the goal of making it fun and safe for passengers leaving from and arriving at the Kingston Station.
NARRAGANSETTâThe townâs School Committee members (Tammy McNeiece, Diane Nobles, Frank White, Douglas Pierson, and Guy DeWardener) were sworn in during an executive session before the public meeting on Wednesday. For Pierson and DeWardener, it was the first meeting of their two-year term.
Pier Middle School Principal Marie-Elena Ahern spoke about the âHomework Club.â Forty students attend the optional program. Some students (in collaboration with parents) are mandated to attend the catch-up and remediation sessions which are overseen by certified school staff.
Give the URI football team credit - when they won this season, the did it in style.
The Rams finished off one of the best seasons in the last 20 years, beating rival UMass 37-34 after Steve Probst found Brandon Johnson-Farrell in the end zone with 1:10 left to play.
URI finished the season 5-6, 4-4 in CAA play but did beat three top 25 teams this season.
