Give the URI football team credit - when they won this season, the did it in style.
The Rams finished off one of the best seasons in the last 20 years, beating rival UMass 37-34 after Steve Probst found Brandon Johnson-Farrell in the end zone with 1:10 left to play.
URI finished the season 5-6, 4-4 in CAA play but did beat three top 25 teams this season.

CHARLESTOWN â It's truly a testament to the fundamental definition of âcommunityâ when so many people come together for a common cause. And there are few greater examples than what occurred at the Cove Restaurant in a little more than a month's time.
Town Council accepted a $3,500 grant from the Friends of Canonchet Farm. Thomas Fourtier, President of the organization, recently wrote a letter and submitted the grant proposal to the town in order to conduct a wetland survey of the Canonchet Farm property.
After a couple weeks of confusion, the site for next Thursday's Thanksgiving Day battle between South Kingstown and North Kingstown has been finalized and left some feeling a bit disappointed.
The game - originally scheduled to be played at NK High School, then switched back to URI's Meade Stadium, the game's host the previous five season - will be played on Thanksgiving at North Kingstown High School at 10 a.m. according to NK Athletic Director James Marcello, who told SRIN Sports on Friday morning. North Kingstown was serving as the home team regardless of the site of the game.

Danny West had just finished his first regular-season home game, a 92-67 win over Brown Tuesday night for the Rams, when he made a big mistake.
He uttered a word URI coach Jim Baron despises.
âI think we got a good chance of making it to The Tournament,â West said. âMaking it though. Not first, second round â weâve got somewhere weâre trying to go â but I feel we do though.â
This was a very strange statement for a couple reasons.
CHARLESTOWN â In one of its last actions, the previous Town Council unanimously approved an amendment to the town's wastewater ordinance to provide more relief for residents previously facing expensive septic system upgrades.

Twelve of the 20 students involved with the program were at the training session.
WAKEFIELD â Through its production of Tom Griffin's The Boys Next Door, the Prout School's Performing Arts Department hopes to raise awareness about the needs and understanding of people living with mental disabilities. The show will take place Nov. 19 and 20 at 7:30 at the school and is done in collaboration with Prout's Campus Ministry Department.
Jennifer Miller learned last week there’s a little more to throwing a party than picking out striking invitations and colorful decorating.
And the American Cancer Society was the beneficiary of her learning experience.
