URI Master Gardeners to present poinsettia and wreath sale Dec. 4

KINGSTON–The University of Rhode Island's East Farm on Route 108 in Kingston is colored red again as the URI Master Gardeners have their annual poinsettia and wreath sale on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.
East Farm is one of 30 test sites in the United States that raises and researches poinsettias, growing 67 varieties.

Bazaar season just around the corner in South County

Not soon after you carve into that Thanksgiving Day turkey that it's that time of year again. "Jingle Bells" is playing on the radio, Santa Claus is popping up in the malls and Christmas bazaars are taking over December weekends. All across South County, this year's first December weekend on Dec. 4 is filled to the chimney with holiday bazaars as several churches and schools prepare to sell crafts and homemade goods and hold silent auctions.

All women welcome to join Helping Hands in spreading holiday cheer

PEACE DALE - Amidst caroling and friendship, the women of Helping Hands of the First Baptist Church of Narragansett will spread holiday cheer Monday, Dec. 6 during their Christmas Celebration as they make blankets for the Providence Rescue Mission. The group will meet at the lounge of the Neighborhood Guild at 325 Columbia St, Peace Dale from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The Women's Ministry Team of First Baptist Church of Narragansett, 305 Kingstown Road, Narragansett sponsors Helping Hands, a group of women who make handmade items to support charities around the world. All women are welcome to join the group. Usually 15 women from different South County communities give their time to make crafts and goods as a part of Helping Hands.

Reale pleads guilty to driving to endanger, death resulting

SOUTH KINGSTOWN—Laura Reale, 27, pleaded guilty to driving to endanger, death resulting, last Friday in Washington County Superior Court for the May death of 27-year-old Colin Foote.
Superior Court Judge Edwin Gale, who found Reale competent to face charges, will sentence Reale for a “substantial” prison term on Dec. 17. According to state law, the maximum penalty for the charge is a 10-year prison sentence.
