KINGSTON–The University of Rhode Island's East Farm on Route 108 in Kingston is colored red again as the URI Master Gardeners have their annual poinsettia and wreath sale on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.
East Farm is one of 30 test sites in the United States that raises and researches poinsettias, growing 67 varieties.
If you're looking to give back to your community this holiday season, a retired Charlestown reverend who calls herself the "Jammie Grammie" might be able to help.
Not soon after you carve into that Thanksgiving Day turkey that it's that time of year again. "Jingle Bells" is playing on the radio, Santa Claus is popping up in the malls and Christmas bazaars are taking over December weekends. All across South County, this year's first December weekend on Dec. 4 is filled to the chimney with holiday bazaars as several churches and schools prepare to sell crafts and homemade goods and hold silent auctions.
